Hydrogenated oils or trans fatty acids are harmful to the body because they cannot be processed well in our body. Whenever you purchase pie crust or baked goods check the package to make sure you are not buying them. 3 medium Anjou or Bartlett pears, seeded, peeled and sliced. 1/2 cup fresh cranberries. 1 cup turbinado sugar. 1 heaping tablespoon flour. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger. 1/4 teaspoon sea salt. 1/2 cup orange juice. 2 teaspoons grated orange zest. 1 pre-made non-hydrogenated pie crust. 1. Preheat oven to 425F. 2. In a large bowl, add pears, cranberries, sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, salt, orange juice and zest. Mix and pour into the pie crust. 3. Bake for 15 minutes, and then lower the heat to 350F and bake 30 minutes until pie is golden brown.
