Quite nice for being in the US. Definitely could use less parking and fewer cars, but overall a nice, compact, walkable city. It is a little strange that so many of the curbs are just ramps (literally) and the sidewalks are curbtight. I guess so that if a car runs off the road they don't damage their vehicle and just kill a pedestrian instead? Also they do that thing where the turning lanes go right through the bike lanes so every time you make a right turn you run over a cyclist. At least they have bike lanes at all though, so credit where it's due. The Pearl Street market is super cool as well. Just a pedestrianized street in the middle of downtown, very pleasant to walk down. In terms of vegan food options, it has a couple of vegan restaurants, and enough cultural awareness of veganism that it's easy to find the vegan options at carnist restaurants. One restaurant did put shrimp in what was described as a "vegan" taco so that was rather upsetting, but otherwise it's been reasonably doable to get vegan food. Overall -- except for maybe the affordability problems -- I don't think I'd mind living here at all, even if it wouldn't be my top choice. Fun place
